The reason for our visit to Coimbatore was to try and find the grave of Staff Sergeant 6278370 Edmund Albert Beadle of the 1st Royal West Kent Regiment who died on 9th November 1920, and was believed to have been buried in the military cemetery in Coimbatore. Our Research Team visited 4 cemeteries, interviewed a vicar, 2 church wardens and asked numerous local people about the location of the military cemetery. No one was able to help us locate it. The cemeteries we did visit, were not in good condition. One was in the process of having some of the old gravestones removed to create new burial plots!
