MILITARY BADGES OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE 1914-18

This is the bible for commonwealth badges of the Great War. The text to accompany the illustrations is of an exceptionally high standard. Chapters cover the badges of Australia, Canada, Colonies Dependencies and Protectorates, United Kingdom, Indian Empire, New Zealand and South Africa.

Since the information presented in this book may be of interest to students as well as to collectors of militaria, it has been arranged for easy reference. Countries have been dealt with alphabetically and the usual order for each countries`s armed services is: cavalry (which includes mounted rifles and yeomanary); artillery; engineers; infantry; other corps and services; women`s units and ex-servicemen`s organisations. Military units are arranged in order of precedence and, where this order is not known, they are listed either alphabetically or by their numerical designations. The date when each unit was founded or recruited is shown with details of its perpetuation or disbandment and the theatres of war in which it served. Illustrations, numbered for identification with the text, are usually of cap badges and, unless otherwise indicated, are actual size. Collar badges are included where these differ markedly from the cap badge. Typical armbadges, piper`s badges and pouch-belt plates provide some reference for the specialist collector. A representative selection of shoulder titles (the majority reproduced one half full size) has also been included for each country. A recent warehouse find, thought to be long out of print.
