| TRADITION BOOK OF THE GURKHAS The intention of this book is to give a broad outline of the colour and style of the costume of each of the ten regiments that comprised the Gurkha Brigade before partition, and then to supplement the notes with really detailed accounts of the various interesting and unusual uniforms taken from photographic and other contemporary material. Sketches are added in the text where it is considered necessary. After a brief historical background to the Gurkha connection with the British it looks in turn at each of the ten regiments. There is a short account of the raising and subsequent service of each regiment followed by the details of uniform. Finally there is a description (written in 1896) of the Gurkha national weapon, the kukri, which has always been carried by every Gurkha soldier. Author: Format: HB.
